TERI Intern Assists in Baking 1,000 Cookies for Tim Tebow Foundation's "2023 Night to Shine"

Updated: Mar 28, 2023

This year, TERI was thrilled to be a big part of San Diego’s “Night to Shine 2023” prom, with our own Culinary intern Andrea England starring in a support role!

Every year on a Friday night in February, the Tim Tebow Foundation sponsors “Night to Shine” prom nights in 720 locations with the sole purpose of honoring and celebrating individuals with special needs. In just 8 years, this memorable evening has spread into over 34 countries with its beautiful message of love, joy, and togetherness.

TERI Intern Andrea England was an integral part of TERI's gift to this year's local Night to Shine production. Andrea works in the TERI Common Grounds Café & Coffee Bar kitchen and teamed with Café Baker Maria Hernandez to ensure that the 1000 cookies were artfully baked, decorated, and beautifully packaged for all in attendance.

TERI also sends a special thank you to Carole Grippo’s team at HomeStreet Bank in San Marcos, who both sponsored the work of our intern and served as prom volunteers.

What a celebration it was! Hosted locally by North Coast Church, over 400 volunteers helped honor over 220 special guests as they all danced the night away together. Evening festivities included limo rides, a red-carpet entry, karaoke, dinner, fun with celebrity characters, as well as a separate Respite Party for parents and caregivers. To top off the night, each honored guest was crowned a Prom King or Prom Queen in a group ceremony and a video encouragement from Tim and Demi-Leigh Tebow.

Tom and Laurie Morrissey, who serve on the Campus of Life Campaign, also joined the evening fun as buddies to their prom guests. Pictured below is our Chief Development Officer, Dan DeSaegher, who hosted Prom King Bailey and Prom Queen Claire.

“What an amazing night to celebrate with so many amazing individuals,” Dan shared. “Joining their joy and laughter throughout the evening was inspiring… we can learn so much from these young men and women.”

TERI's own Aaron Ackerman was one of the Prom Night Kings. Not only did he have a wonderful time with Spidey, he certainly looked dashing in his formal wear - Go Aaron!
